Game 1 provided a great spectacle and a promise of a great spectacle here on. Luka Doncic’s absence, as expected, was greatly felt, as the Mavericks couldn’t sustain enough for a win. Even in the darkness of the absence of a crucial player, the Dallas outfit pushed the game to the absolute brink, overcoming a double-digit deficit in the second half. Spencer Dinwiddie and Jalen Brunson made a hefty share of that, combining to shoot just 15 out of 39 In the field.
Josh Green was terrible in the game, as he didn’t even make shots. Thankfully, Finney- Smith and Bullock can salvage the depth. Rudy Gobert ran amuck in the defense, as he didn’t have any capable opposition, in terms of physicality.

There is no point in playing in the same way as they have played with Luka Doncic in the side. Even though they are pretty good, Dinwiddie and Brunson combo cannot match the level that Luka brings to the team. It might eventually be a problem as the team is not as abundant with ball handlers. Even without Doncic unavailable, the side is 8-9 in the regular season. So there is hope for the second game.

Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley are responsible for giving the side an excellent level of guard play. Even Bojan Bogdanovic’s ball-handling deserves a great deal of appreciation. He even made the best of the match-up with Brunson, given Brunson’s lack of physical presence. Rudy Gobert also deserves a lot of applause for the defensive side of things. He was responsible for a great many rebounds, as Jazz rebounded Dallas by 19 and scored 14 more points. It is great news that a great structure around him can make Bojan’s defense a lot better.

- Donovan Mitchell– The Jazz star came out with red hot flair in the third quarter, and completed 19 out of 28 points in the third quarter for the Jazz. However there is more to Jazz from him.
- Mike Conley– Mike provided a huge asset along with Gobert to thwart, any attempt of blowing away with the lead. His blocks often lead to huge opportunities, and more than not, converted adequately.
- Spencer Dinwiddie– A light of hope in the otherwise bleak affair, Dinwiddie finished with 22 points in the game. His numbers in the next games will carry a great weight.
