Tetsuta Nagashima to replace Nakagami at the upcoming Thai GP

The Thai GP takes place on 2nd October 2022 at the Buriram International Circuit in Buriram Province of Thailand.

The Japanese Takaaki Nakagami suffered injuries at Aragon. He collided with the six-time world champion Marc Marquez and subsequently tore his tendon. Nakagami took the decision of sitting out the Thai GP came after a doctor consultation early morning in Japan.

Takaaki Nakagami has also announced that his surgery for the same will happen very shortly on Friday. His replacement Nagashima wished him to get well soon and hoped for his early comeback. He also added that he will do his best in Nagakami’s absence from the LCR Honda IDEMITSU team.

Tetsuta Nagashima entered Moto2 in 2013 with JIR. He raced in Moto2 for 8 long years from 2013 to 2021 with a two-year hiatus in ’15 and ’16. He raced 87 times in the class where he won once and placed on two podiums. His only victory came in 2020 in Qatar. He changed into MotoGP in 2022 as a test rider for the IDEMITSU team. He first raced in the Japanese Grand Prix but could not finish his race.

The Thailand GP will take place on the 2nd of October at the Buriram International Circuit. The very nascent Thai GP began in 2018 when Marc Marquez lifted the silverware. The Spaniard lifted it again in 2019 before it was canceled for 2020,2021 due to COVID-19. French racer Fabio Quartaro leads the table with 219 points trailed by Italian Francesco Bagnaia with 201. Takaaki Nakagami is placed 17th at the table with 46 points just behind Pol Espargaro of the Repsol Honda Team.
