Talking about one of the most consistent drivers in Formula 1, Williams star Alexander Albon pops into our minds. Despite driving a slower car, he has helped Williams finish ahead in the constructors’ championship. Last season, he had multiple-point finishes and ranked 13th in the drivers’ championship.
Albon began his F1 career in 2019 with the Toro Rosso team. In the same season, he was upgraded to a Red Bull seat and scored 92 points in his debut. In the next season, he improved his performance and scored 105 points.
However, due to inconsistent performances, he was left out of the team in the 2021 season. Then, in 2022, he was signed by the Williams Team and is currently racing for them. He has showcased improvements in the past few seasons and is expecting a bigger contract.
Alexander Albon said:
“Let’s see. Time will tell.”
Here is the complete statement:
“Let’s see. Time will tell. If the team is aware of where I want them to be, it will be a long-term contract. It will be all the way or nothing.”
In case you missed: Does Yuki Tsunoda need an upgrade from an Alpha Tauri seat to a Red Bull seat?
Should Alexander Albon stay at Williams or move to another team?
Albon’s contract with the Williams Racing Team will expire in 2025. Will Williams extend his contract, or will another team offer him one? Only time will let us know. But we think Albon deserves a grid upgrade.
Williams hasn’t produced a championship-competitive car, and Albon staying with them in a slower car is a waste of talent. But with the drama of Hamilton moving to Mercedes and possibly Sainz moving to Ferrari, he might have to wait for a better car.
Moreover, finding a place in McLaren seems impossible. McLaren has signed Norris and Piastri on a long-term contract. His former team, Red Bull, might be an option if Perez fails to perform consistently.
From whom will Albon race after the 2025 season? Let us know your views in the comment section.
