Every season, we witness youngsters shine throughout the tournament. In 2023, CJ Stroud did it for the Houston Texans, Jordan Love for the Green Bay Packers, and many more. Similarly, for the San Francisco 49ers, it was their quarterback, Brock Purdy.
The rookie had an average outing in his first NFL season, with 1,374 yards in nine games. But in the 2023 season, he had 4,280 passing yards to his tally in 16 games. He averaged 267.5 yards per game in the regular season.
Not only that, he averages 260 passing yards in the postseason and has two touchdowns. Undoubtedly, he is the find of the season and has impressed everyone. But former NFL player Cam Newton doesn’t agree.
Cam Newton said:
“Brock Purdy is the 10th-best player on this team.”

“He is good. I have never said that Brock Purdy was trash. But I did say, Is Purdy a game manager? That is not hate. That is what I feel.”
“To be labeled as the game manager, he has to be the best player on the offense side. And that is not the case. Christian McCaffrey is the best player. If you add a defense and an offense talent, Purdy is the 10th-best player on the team.”
“He had a great game; he has been playing out of his mind; he is a hot quarterback. But he’s still the tenth-best player on this team.”

Is Brock Purdy a game manager?
When talking about the best player on the 49ers side, he is one of them. Purdy has impressed everyone, including his teammates. But the game manager term is quite dizzy because Purdy didn’t agree with the game manager term.
Purdy, in an interview, said:
“I think it is sort of funny to be called a game manager. Just because we are winning.”
