Over the past few days, rumors of Max Verstappen leaving Red Bull and joining Mercedes took over the internet. But it didn’t take time for Verstappen to put a full stop to this drama. Verstappen openly said, ‘The intention is to stay with Red Bull! I have no reason to leave.’ Despite this statement, Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff has been sharing his desire to have Max on the team.
After the Bahrain Grand Prix, Toto Wolff said:
“I would love to have Max Verstappen in Mercedes. There is no team up and down in the grid who wouldn’t do handstands to have him in their car.”
Days later, Toto made one more statement, indirectly wanting Max Verstappen to join them.

Toto said:
“The driver will always try to be in the strongest car. That is why we have to do our homework beforehand so that the car performs. Mercedes could become a real alternative for Max.”
This statement has confirmed that Toto wants Max Verstappen to race for them in 2025 and more. On the other hand, Verstappen has mentioned, ‘He has no reason to leave Red Bull!’
Moreover, leaving the fastest car on the grid doesn’t make any sense. No team is closer to them, including Ferrari, Mercedes, and McLaren. Red Bull will have the fastest car on the grid until 2025.
Maybe after the 2025 season, we might not see Red Bull that strong because of the 2026 car regulations. It will all depend on Adrian Newey and other engineers to produce a strong car. By that time, Toto’s desire to see Max Verstappen in a Mercedes will have to wait.
