“I am proud of the team and the players!” Xavi, after Barcelona qualifies for the quarterfinals of the UCL

Last night, FC Barcelona entered the second leg round of 16 games against Napoli of the Champions League as the most likely team to be out. They were missing several match-winners due to injuries, and Napoli’s recent form has been top-notch. Despite all of these, Barcelona did the unimaginable by winning the game 3-1 and qualifying for the quarterfinals. Xavi was proud and couldn’t hold up to his team’s performance.

After defeating Napoli in the UCL, Xavi said:

“I am very happy; we have played a great game, a complete one. I am very proud.”

Here is the complete statement:

“I am very proud of the team and the players. I am very happy; we have played a great game, a complete one. The team has exhausted all of its energy. We controlled the game in many moments.”

“People didn’t believe me. I said that the team would be liberated if I announced my decision to step aside at the end of the season. So what now? We are in the quarterfinals as one of the top eight teams in Europe.”

“Today we showed that we are a Champions League-level team. During the season, we have received criticism that I think is very unfair. I rate the fans 10/10 today. It was a magical night, and the club deserved it.”

Undoubtedly, last night Barcelona gave one of their best performances of this season. They entered the second leg with an aggregate score of 1-1, and by the final whistle, the scores were 4-2. Barcelona is now in the quarterfinals and is looking like one of the strongest teams.

Can Barcelona win any titles this season?

The defending La Liga champions, FC Barcelona, have had a tough outing this season. Several important match winners, like Gavi, Pedri, De Jong, Balde, and many others, are out of the season due to injuries. Their coach, Xavi, has announced his resignation by the end of the season.

Apart from all of these, they are also going through financial crises. They have lost two domestic titles this season. Also, their only hope to win any championship this season is the La Liga and UEFA Champions League.

Winning La Liga seems tough, as Real Madrid has a seven-point lead. It is difficult, but not impossible. Maybe if Real Madrid loses points in a few matches and Barcelona covers up the gap, we might have a close finish.

On the other hand, they have a chance to win the UEFA Champions League, as they have already qualified for the quarterfinals. They look strong and are in the mindset of defeating any opponent.

Moreover, the youngsters and experienced players’ bonding and playstyle have improved game by game. Barca holds a chance to have at least one trophy added to their cabinet by the end of the season.
