Since 2020, the UFC has seen the rise of the Russian fighter Khamzat Chimaev. He has been undefeated in the UFC, from his debut fight against John Phillips to his most recent fight against Kamaru Usman. He has a record of 13-0 in his MMA career and is inching closer to his first title fight.
After his fight against Kamaru Usman at UFC 294, Dana White said, “The kid is unbelievably talented. Hopefully, everything is well, and we can do this title fight soon.”
However, due to a hand injury, Chimaev underwent surgery and needed weeks to recover. Well, he is back and is all set for his next fight.
Khamzat Chimaev said:
“UFC promised me a title shot after the Kamaru Usman fight. I am ready for UFC 300.”
In case you missed: Israel Adesanya has two title fights on the platter for him
Will Khamzat Chimaev get a title fight?
Undoubtedly, Chimaev is one of the best middleweight fighters in UFC. He ranks 9th in the middleweight division and is close to a title fight. He will surely get a title fight, but not this early. Chimaev might have to face a higher-ranked middleweight fighter, and if he wins against him, he will be the number-one contender for the UFC middleweight championship.
But you never know! Dricus du Plessis (the current UFC middleweight champion) is also ready for UFC 300. There is a chance of du Plessis vs. Chimaev on the UFC 300 fight card.
