Khamzat Chimaev eyes to return at UFC 300! A possible title fight?

The UFC 294 event was one of the most anticipated MMA events, as several ranked fighters were on the match card. One of the match cards was for a double championship match between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovksi, which was also the main event. On the other hand, the co-main match was between Kamuru Usman and Khamzat Chimaev. Both fights produced shocking results, as Makhachev defeated Volkanovski and Chimaev defeated Usman.

Well, after the fight, Dana White announced that Khamzat Chimaev would soon be on a match card for the UFC Middleweight Championship. But at that time, there was no official announcement that Chimaev had some injury to his hand.

Recently, Chimaev revealed that we will go through surgery on his right hand. The reason is that he tore a ligament in his right hand during the first round of his fight against Karamu Usman. He also mentioned that he will take some time to recover but is eyeing a return at the UFC 300.

Here is what Chimaev said:

“I will recover, come back, and smash somebody at UFC 300.”

Here is the full statement: “I’m going to do surgery, operation in one, two weeks. After that, do the recovery, come back, and smash somebody. UFC 300 tell Dana White to make it happen.”

A possible title fight?

If this happens, most probably it is going to be a fight against a ranked middleweight. If Chimaev wins the fight, his next fight will surely be a fight for the UFC Middleweight Championship against Sean Strickland or Dricus du Plessis.

Why? Because he is undefeated in his MMA career and has defeated some of the best middleweight fighters. Also, when he fought against Karamu Usman, he tore his ligament in the first round, and the fight went on until the last round. This shows his dedication and hunger to be one of the best fighters in the ring. As of now, UFC 300 is a few months away. Till then, let us look at some fast facts about Chimaev.
