During Sunday’s 2-0 loss at Tottenham, Chelsea defender Thiago Silva suffered knee ligament damage. The club has not indicated how long the 38-year-old Brazil captain is likely to be absent after Monday’s scan.

Silva won’t play in Chelsea’s trip to Dortmund in the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals the following week.

When will Thiago Silva return?

There are a lot of uncertainty around Silva’s return as his injury is yet to be assessed properly by the Chelsea medical staff.

The Blues’ final opportunity to win a trophy this year is in the Champions League. The struggling team under Graham Potter will be without him as they attempt to turn around their dreadful league performance, including Saturday’s home Premier League match against Leeds United.

Chelsea has only won twice in their last 15 games across all competitions and is 14 points off the top four.
