Hamad Medjedovic: Another Serbian superstar tennis player in the making

After a historic win against Arthur Fils in the 2024 Next Gen ATP Finals, the tennis world has a new star in the form of Hamad Medjedovic. The Serbian tennis players had an impressive run in 2024 and ended the season on a high note. His journey before entering the Next Gen ATP Finals was amazing. He competed in a total of 65 matches and won 43 titles, including three ATP Challenger titles.

Similarly, his journey to the 2024 Next Gen ATP Finals was nothing but magical. Hamad Medjedovic defeated Alex Michelsen, Luca Van Assche, and Abedallah Shelbayh in the group-stage matches. Whereas, he defeated Dominic Stricker in the semi-finals, followed by Arthur Fils in the finals.

Medjedovic has now joined a great list of players like Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and many others who have lifted the Next Gen ATP Finals championship.

Hamad Medjedovic’s 2024 season

The Serbian player had a great record in the ATP Challenger before entering the 2024 season. He had won four titles in the 2022 season and had a win percentage of 66%. Likewise, he carried a consistent performance in 2024 and began his journey on a high note. He was the semi-finalist on the Indian Men’s Singles Challenger tour but sadly lost to Max Purcell in the semifinals.

Following a couple of tournaments later at the ATP Challenger Szekesfehervar, he won his first title of the 2024 season.

Later, at the 2024 ATP Challenger Mauthausen, he lifted his second title and entered the French Open qualification with great form. By defeating Cerundolo, Gakhov, and de Jong, he qualified for the French Open for the first time but sadly lost in the first-round match against Marcos Giron.

He didn’t lose hope, and a month later, he qualified for the 2024 Wimbledon. But yet again, he lost in the first-round game against Christopher O’Connell. Following a few tournaments at the ATP Challenger Manacor, he lifted his third title of the season.

Some of the big names he has defeated in his tennis journey are Dominic Thiem, Jiri Lehecka, and Juan Manuel Cerundolo. He is still 20 years old and has a long way to go in tennis.
