The go home show for Forbidden Door featured CM Punk teaming up with FTR and Ricky Starks to take on Bullet Club Gold and The Gunns in the main event. Sting and Darby Allin revealed their mystery partner for Forbidden Door, while the Women’s Owen Hart Tournament also continued as Willow Nightingale faced Nyla Rose on this week’s AEW Collision in Toronto, Canada.

The show began with Chris Jericho and Minoru Suzuki interrupting Tony Schiavone, who was in the ring to introduce Sting and Darby Allin after promoting the upcoming PPV. Things start to get rough when The Demo God threatens the announcer with his hit bat, but soon Sting and Darby Allin come out to a big ovation. Darby revealed the mystery partner to be Tetsuya Naito, Jericho’s former opponent in NJPW. Suzuki had a smile on his face while Jericho witnessed some flashbacks. The Toronto crowd made this segment even better. A good start to the show.

Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Swerve Strickland
NJPW’s Master of the Century faced Swerve Strickland in a singles match ahead of his title bout against MJF. The match started with both wrestlers locking up and Swerve soon went for a early roll up, only for Tanahashi to roll out of the ring. Eventually, the Ace of NJPW was able to defeat his opponent after a splash from the top rope. Both men showcased their in-ring talent to put on a decent match. MJF appeared on the titantron after the match and warned the challenger, saying he will embarass him. The match is set to open Forbidden Door.

Brody King vs. Andrade El Idolo
After shining in his match last week, Andrade El Idolo continues to impress as he took on Brody King. A great wrestling match concluded in a DQ after Andrade was attacked by Buddy Matthews before King could tap to the Figure Eight. Impressive spots like Andrade’s moonsault on the floor and the physical showdown throughout made this match worth watching. Julia Hart was entertaining at the ring side. Hart held Andrade’s mask and the members of House of Black looked while Malakai Black appeared on Titantron.
