“Pressure on managers at La Liga is a thousand times tougher than the Premier League!” says Pep Guardiola

The past few weeks in European football have witnessed several managers leaving their clubs. Jurgen Klopp and Xavi announced leaving their respective clubs at the end of the season, and Roma sacked Jose Mourino and more drama. While all of this has been happening, Pep Guardiola released a controversial statement.

Pep Guardiola said:

“Pressure on managers at La Liga is a thousand times tougher than the Premier League!”

Here is the complete statement:

“We cannot compare the pressure we have in England (Premier League) to Spain (La Liga), in my experience. It is a thousand times tougher there. Six press conferences a week, a lot of games.”

“The pressure you feel in Barcelona (on Xavi leaving Barcelona) is not comparable anywhere else.”

Is pressure on La Liga managers tougher than in the Premier League?

Pep Guardiola is one of the managers who has managed both Spanish and English football clubs. He began his managerial journey in 2007 with the Spanish club Barcelona. Later, in 2016, he joined the English club Manchester United and is still managing them.

He has won multiple trophies with both clubs, including trebles. He has spent six years at Barcelona and nine plus with Manchester City. Undoubtedly, he is one of the best managers in football history and has spent plenty of time.

Guardiola said the pressure on La Liga managers is tougher than in the Premier League, which is acceptable. Also, we think the pressure on La Liga managers is tougher than in the Premier League.

For instance, Xavi, who didn’t fail as a manager for FC Barcelona, was called a failure despite winning two trophies. He gave his best for the club, and a few losses created a lot of pressure. As a result, he is leaving the club at the end of the 2024–24 season.
