Legendary Brazilian footballer Pele has reportedly been transferred to the palliative care unit since his chemo is not working. Pele, unquestionably one of the all-time greatest football players, has been in the hospital for a few days. Although his daughter had earlier said that there was no urgency, still it seems that his condition is reportedly worsening right now.
“Lots of alarm in the media today concerning my dad’s health. He is in the hospital regulating medication. There is no emergency or new dire prediction. I will be there for New Year’s and promise to post some pictures.” — Pele’s daughter said on Tuesday
Pele Shifted to Palliative Care
According to the most recent reports, Pele has been switched to palliative care because she is no longer responding to chemotherapy for intestinal cancer. When Pele was transported to the hospital to reevaluate his cancer therapy, a lung infection was discovered. Pele underwent intestinal surgery to remove a tumour in 2021. He has been visiting the hospital frequently ever since.

Pele not responding to Chemotherapy
According to a story in Folha de S Paulo, the great footballer from Brazil has been placed under palliative care, and also he is receiving only treatment for symptoms like pain and shortness of breath. Additionally, his chemotherapy has been discontinued. Earlier on Friday, Brazilian media outlets said that Pele was responding to antibiotic therapy and had made general health status improvements, in accordance to his stable condition.
The legendary footballer himself provided an update on his health, saying he was happy to see the encouraging notes he had been receiving from all around the world and was at the hospital as part of his monthly visit. Additionally, after learning that Pele had been transferred to “palliative care,” some football players and well-wishers, including Kylian Mbappe from France, left condolences for him on social media.
