Following an agreement with PSV, Liverpool beat Manchester United to the signing of winger Cody Gakpo, the Dutch club confirmed on Monday.
They have reached an agreement between PSV and Liverpool FC over Cody Gakpo’s upcoming move, “PSV stated in a formal statement”.
“The 23-year-old attacker will fly out right away for England to complete the appropriate paperwork for the transfer”.

Cody Gakpo “record transfer” with Liverpool
According to sources, the sum of the trade is close to $45 million. The parties are almost ready to finalize his transfer in the January transfer window. PSV did not make the price of the move public. But general manager Marcel Brands claimed it would be a “historic transfer” for the team.
They had mentioned Gakpo as a target for the summer. But Liverpool increased their interest after learning that PSV would be willing to sell the Cody in January. Additionally, the injuries to Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota increased Liverpool’s need for attacking reinforcements.

Liverpool prevails over the United
The wing forward was a significant target for Leeds and Southampton in the summer. But United boss Erik ten Hag encouraged the Old Trafford club to have a look at a bid for the player in the closing days of the summer transfer window.
