Khalifa Stadium Design
The stadium sported a design of the East side having dual arches and the western side having a roof. Post renovation, the arches stand the same, however, equipped with a canopy and a facade. The canopy sports the stadium’s newly added cooling system.
Khalifa Stadium History
The Khalifa Stadium originally opened in 1976. The multipurpose stadium has been home to many historic tournaments, including the 1992 Gulf Cup. Prior to the latest renovation, the stadium also renovated in 2005 ahead of the Asian Games. Home only to the national football team of Qatar, the authorities renovated it again for the FIFA World Cup. The process took off in 2014 and completed in 2017, the earliest among all the other venues in Qatar.
