Jordan pulls off insane last minute comeback, advances to third Quarter Finals in History

Jordan pulls off an insane comeback in the dying minutes to stage a scintillating victory over the 2007 AFC Asian Cup Champions Iraq in the AFC Asian Cup 2024 Round of 16 at the Khalifa International Stadium.

In the extra time before halftime, Yazan al Naimat pulled off a sick move, faked out the goalie to put Jordan ahead.

Iraq came back strong at the 67th minute with a header from Natiq. He gets the goal and then got stretched out. Then Hussein, the tournament’s top scorer, does his thing and puts Iraq in control, 2-1. Aymen Hussein goes wild with his celebration, but refs ain’t having it and slap him with another yellow.

Then, out of nowhere in the dying moments, Yazan Al Arab swoops in and ties it up for Jordan in the final moments. And just when one thought it couldn’t get crazier, Nizar Al-Rashdan comes through and scores from outside the box, leaving Hassan, the Iraqi goalie, shook!

The Jordan squad pulled off one of the most exhilarating comebacks of the Asian Cup history.The Pickpockets, as they have come to be known, are heading for their third QF appearance in AFC Asian Cup History.

Jordan will face off against debutants Tajikistan in the Quarter Final. Tajikistan defeated UAE on 28th January in penalties after the regular time drew 1-1.

Tajikistan is having a splendid debut. They recorded their first wins, first goals and ensured a QF appearance. Neither, Tajikistan nor Jordan have made it into SFs of Asian Cup before. No cap, It will be interesting to see how it turns out.
