The French footballer Antoine Griezmann was an unstoppable force in 2018. There were no games in which he wasn’t a top contributor. He won the UEFA Europa League, the Super Cup, and the FIFA World Cup. Not only that, he was a star performer and was the favorite to win the Ballon d’Or.
Sadly, Griezmann finished third in the 2018 Ballon d’Or rankings. Looking back, he recently released a statement that has raised some questions.
Antoine Griezmann said:
“I deserved the Ballon d’Or in 2018.”
The Croatian footballer Luka Modric won the Ballon d’Or, and Cristiano Ronaldo was second in the rankings. On the other hand, Griezmann finished third.

Did Antoine Griezmann deserve the Ballon d’Or in 2018?
Griezmann scored 29 goals and provided 15 assists in 49 appearances for Atletico Madrid. Similarly, for the France National Football Team, he scored 15 goals from 2017 to 2018.
Regarding international goals, he had four in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He had the most goals and assists, along with the Man of the Match award. He also scored a goal and provided two assists in the final.
Sadly, he finished behind Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo in the Ballon d’Or rankings. As per the points allotted, Modric had 753 points to his tally, and Griezmann had 414 points.
