Controversial statements released after the Real Madrid vs Almeria match

La Liga became one of the hot topics in football during the 21st matchday of the 2024-24 season. The reason was the Real Madrid vs Almeria match. It was a battle between the first and last-ranked teams of the season.

But the results before halftime were the opposite because Almeria, who are at the bottom of the points table, were leading the game 2-0 against Real Madrid. In the second half, Madrid opened their scoreboard with a penalty goal by Jude Bellingham. Since then, something fishy has begun during the game, according to the players.

Later, Madrid scored their second goal, followed by a third in the 90+9th minute of the game, which helped them win by 3-2. The battle ended on the field, but it also began an exchange of controversial statements between teammates and other La Liga franchises.

Controversial statement after the Real Madrid vs Almeria match

First, it was Almeria defender Marc Pubill who said:

“I think that someone decided that we weren’t allowed to win here at Bernabeu today, and that’s what happened. Nothing more to say.

Later, Almeria midfielder Gonzalo Melero said:

“We can’t play like this; it’s impossible. I feel that we have been robbed. I’m disappointed to say that, but this goes beyond all the limits. It’s incredible.”

Not only them but also Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez said:

“It’s going to be very difficult to win this league. There are things that we can’t control. Everyone saw what happened today (referring to the referee decision in the Madrid vs. Almeria match).”

In case you missed: “I believe we can win the treble!” says Xavi about Barcelona’s current season

In return, Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal replied to Gonzalo Melero:

“If he can see all the episodes calmly, he will notice that all the referee’s decisions were correct. VAR helps football be more fair.”

Also, the Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti didn’t hold back and replied:

“The referee’s decisions were correct today; I am sure of that once again. I understand the reaction from Almeria, as they were leading 2-0, but it was all correct.”
