La Liga became one of the hot topics in football during the 21st matchday of the 2024-24 season. The reason was the Real Madrid vs Almeria match. It was a battle between the first and last-ranked teams of the season.

First, it was Almeria defender Marc Pubill who said:
โI think that someone decided that we werenโt allowed to win here at Bernabeu today, and thatโs what happened. Nothing more to say.โ
Later, Almeria midfielder Gonzalo Melero said:
โWe canโt play like this; itโs impossible. I feel that we have been robbed. Iโm disappointed to say that, but this goes beyond all the limits. Itโs incredible.โ
Not only them but also Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez said:
โItโs going to be very difficult to win this league. There are things that we canโt control. Everyone saw what happened today (referring to the referee decision in the Madrid vs. Almeria match).โ

In return, Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal replied to Gonzalo Melero:

Also, the Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti didnโt hold back and replied:
“The referee’s decisions were correct today; I am sure of that once again. I understand the reaction from Almeria, as they were leading 2-0, but it was all correct.โ
