Lionel Messi Surpasses Cristiano Ronaldo and Establishes a World Cup record for Most Man of the Match Honours

The PSG forward surpassed Ronaldo's eight World Cup goals by scoring his ninth overall.

Lionel Messi Surpasses Cristiano Ronaldo for Most Man of The Match Awards

On Sunday, Argentina’s Lionel Messi won his eighth World Cup Man of the Match award, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal, who now holds the record with seven medals.

Arjen Robben, a former Dutch football player, ranks third on the list with six Player of the Match honours. They established the Prizes in 2002.

Messi Surpassed Ronaldo on yet another front in the same game after scoring his third goal in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup during the Round of 16 encounters against Australia. The PSG forward surpassed Ronaldo’s eight World Cup goals by scoring his ninth overall.
