In a historic feat, Uganda has secured a coveted spot in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, set to unfold in the West Indies and the USA.
The confirmation of Uganda’s qualification marks the completion of the 20-team lineup for the highly anticipated tournament. Earlier Namibia emerged as the second team from the African region to qualify.

Unfortunately, Zimbabwe, led by Sikandar Raza, faced another heartbreak as they missed out on T20 World Cup qualification for the second consecutive time. Their hopes hinged on Rwanda’s victory over Uganda. Uganda’s dominant performance, skittled Rwanda for a mere 65 runs. Chasing down, The latter finished the inning in just 8.1 overs with nine wickets in hand, dashing Zimbabwe’s aspirations.
Despite Zimbabwe’s formidable showing in their ongoing match against Kenya, where they posted a substantial total of 217 runs in 20 overs, the losses to Uganda and Namibia proved decisive.
The finalized lineup for the T20 World Cup now includes automatic qualifiers West Indies and the USA as hosts. Additionally, the top 8 teams from T20 World Cup 2022, along with Afghanistan and Bangladesh based on T20I rankings, have secured their spots.
The remaining eight teams earned qualification through regional qualifiers, including Europe (2 teams), East Asia-Pacific (1 team), Americas (1 team), Asia (2 teams), and Africa (2 teams).
