Top 10 players with the best batting average in IPL

A batter might have a huge strike rate and ability to clear boundary ropes with ease, but if he is not consistent, then he would lose his position. That’s where the batting average comes into the picture. Let’s look at the top 10 players with the highest IPL batting average.

10. Paul Collingwood 

Paul Collingwood, the English all-rounder played for Delhi Daredevils in the early years of IPL. Though he managed to play only 8 games, he has an average of 40.80 which is very impressive. He is at number 10 in the list of players with the highest batting average in IPL. In 8 games, he accumulated 204 runs striking at 130.77. 

9. Venkatesh Iyer

Venkatesh Iyer, the newbie at the IPL had some terrific performances in the latter half of IPL 2021. In 10 games donning KKR’s purple, Venkatesh has managed to score 370 runs at an average of 41.11 which ranks him at number 9 in the list of players with the best IPL batting average. 

8. Jonny Bairstow

Jonny Bairstow had formed an outstanding opening partnership with David Warner for SRH. In the total of 28 games, Jonny has 1038 runs in his bank at an average of 41.52. This 41.52 helps him to occupy the 8th position in the list of batters with the highest IPL average. Interestingly, he also has a massive strike rate of 142.19.

7. David Warner

David Warner is the legend of IPL. In 150 games to date, he has accumulated a total of 5449 runs at a brilliant average of 41.60 which ranks him at the 7th position amongst the batters with the most batting average. David was the captain of SRH for most of his tenure there and scoring that consistently under the captain’s cap, is no mean achievement. 

6. Iqbal Abdulla

Iqbal Abdulla was at one time one of the talking points of IPL. This all-rounder had some good time with KKR, but sadly the partnership lasted only for a few matches. In 49 IPL games, Iqbal has scored just 88 runs. But he does have an average of exactly 44 which ranks him at 6th place in the list of players with the higher batting average in the IPL. 

5. Hashim Amla

Hashim Amla, the Test specialist, surprisingly had a prolific time with Kings XI Punjab. He was in good form and was scoring runs very easily. Remarkably, he also played some unorthodox shots which were awesome and quite efficient. He scored a total of 577 runs in 16 games at an average of 44.38. 

4. Adam Voges 

Adam Voges was part of the Rajasthan Royals for a mere 9 games. But he did make his mark by scoring 181 runs striking at 126.57 and with an average of 45.25. This consistency with bat in hand positions him at number 4 in the list of highest batting averages of all time in the IPL.

3. Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj had to toil hard in the early stages of his IPL career. He fought with Covid, had a string of low scores in the IPL 2020. But in the latter half of IPL 2020, he showed his class and forced CSK management to back him as an opener in the 2021 season. Since then Ruturaj has been the star of IPL. Rutu has a remarkable average of 46.61 in 22 games. He ranks at number 3 in the list of players with the best batting average in IPL. 

2. KL Rahul

KL Rahul has become a substitute for word consistency. His consistency is unrivaled. In 94 IPL games, he averages 47.43 and has 3273 runs at the strike rate elf 136.38. This average of 47.43 makes him acquire number 2 in the list of highest batting average in the history of IPL. 

1. Morne N van Wyk

Morne N van Wyk is not very famous as he only played 5 matches in IPL. He was a KKR player in 2009. This right-hand batter and the left-arm orthodox spinner has scored 167 runs in 5 games at an average of 55.67 which makes him the player with the best IPL batting average of all time.
