Top 10 batters with most IPL fifties

Century in T20s has always been a way to turn everybody’s eyes onto you. However, the century followed by a series of low scores, makes the batter a target of critics. However, scoring a series of half-centuries has more value than a lonely century amidst the low scores. So let’s look at the top 10 batters with most IPL fifties.

List of Players with Most Fifties in IPL History

10. KL Rahul

KL Rahul is at number 10 in the list of batters with most IPL fifties. He has a total of 27 half-centuries In 94 innings. Rahul has become a synonym for consistency when it comes to IPL. The 27 fifties are accompanied by 2 centuries also. Rahul will be aiming to continue this run after donning the captain’s cap of Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2022. 

9. Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane achieves number 9 amongst the batters with the highest number of IPL 50s. He has 28 half-centuries in 151 games. Many would be surprised to see this veteran player in this list, but he had some prolific seasons with Rajasthan Royals. Kolkata Knight Riders will look to reignite his past form for IPL 2022. 

8. Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle, the Jamaican destroyer, has 31 fifties and he is at number 8 in the list of batters with the highest number of IPL half-centuries. He also has 6 centuries in 142 games at a mind-boggling strike rate of 148.96. Unfortunately, Gayle was not on the auction list for IPL 2022 and fans will miss his antics on and off the field along with his annihilation with a bat in hand. 

7. Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir has 36 fifties in 154 games and sits at number 7 amongst the batters with most IPL fifties. This former KKR and DC captain doesn’t have any hundred to show, but he was one of the most reliable batters going around in his era. 

6. Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina, the MR.IPL has 39 half-centuries in 205 games and ranks at 6th position in the list of batters with the most number of IPL 50s. He was at one time the highest run-scorer in IPL. Even though his partnership with CSK has ended in a very painful way, fans will always remember him as Chinna Thala.

5. AB De Villiers

AB De Villiers or simply ABD has 40 IPL half-centuries and he is at the middle of the table of batters with a maximum number of half-centuries in IPL. He is from South Africa, but he was the core of IPL. His scintillating batting performances never lacked consistency. In his 184 IPL innings, he also has 3 centuries in front of his name. 

4. Rohit Sharma

The hit-man Rohit Sharma has also scored 40 IPL fifties and ranks at number 4 in the list of players with the most IPL half-centuries. It might sound a cliché, but he certainly has made batting look so easy. This MI captain has already been regarded as the best IPL captain and he is on the way to be the best batter of IPL as well. 

3. Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli has 42 50s in 207 games and he is the top 3rd batter in the list of the players with the highest number of IPL fifties. king Kohli and ABD used to set the stadium ablaze with stupendous shots. Currently, he might not be in the purple patch, but just his presence on the field is enough for all the fans to be glued to their TV sets. 

2. Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan is the surprising factor in this list and especially when he sits at 2nd place in the list of players with the most IPL half-centuries. The Gabbar has scored 44 half-centuries in 192 IPL games. He and David Warner formed a daunting opening partnership at SRH. For IPL 2022, Shikhar will play for Punjab Kings. 

1. David Warner

David Warner occupies the top position amongst the batters with most IPL fifties. He has exactly 50 fifties to his name. Fascinatingly, he is head and shoulders above the 2nd placed Shikhar Dhawan with the gap of 6 half-centuries. He led SRH to their maiden IPL title in 2016 and now will look to do the same for his new franchise Delhi Capitals.
