5. 120 by MI vs PWI, 2012
Mumbai Indians defended a total of mere 120 runs against Pune Warriors India and it is our 5th lowest total defended in IPL. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ashish Nehra’ niggardly bowling restricted Mumbai’s destructive batting on 119. In reply, PWI lost wickets at regular intervals and needed 15 runs off 10 balls. Mithun Manhas the lone warrior from Pune couldn’t take them to the victory as they fell short by 1 run.
4. 119 by SRH vs PWI, 2013
Pune Warriors India’s once again in this list as they couldn’t chase down 119 runs in 120 balls against SRH. Sunrisers has always been a side that has the potential to defend such scores. In 2013, Pune fell 11 runs short of 119. Amit Mishra was the man who sabotaged Pune by his 4 wickets giving away just 19 runs.
3. 119 by KXIP vs MI, 2009
Kings XI Punjab is unfortunately quite famous to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. This time though the story is a different one. Kumar Sangakkara’s run a ball 44 took KXIP to 119 runs. It was an easy peasy target for Mumbai. However, they managed to score just 116 runs and lost by 3 runs.
2. 118 by SRH vs MI, 2018
Batting first Sunrisers scored 118 runs. Yusuf Pathan’s 29 was the highest individual score of the innings. Chasing 119 runs, MI at one stage were 61/3 and it was MI’s game to lose. Surprisingly, the MI batting lineup collapsed for just 67 runs and SRH won the game 21 runs. Siddarth Kaul, Rashid Khan, and Basil Thampy’s combined effort reduced MI to 67.
1.116 By CSK vs KXIP, 2009
Chennai Super Kings in 2009 defended a total of 116 against KXIP and this makes it the lowest score defended in IPL history. Parthiv Patel’s 32 runs in a relatively quick way off 23 balls took Yellow Army to 116. CSK exerted a lot of pressure in the early stages of Punjab innings and the tactics did work as Punjab could only manage to score 92 runs in 20 overs.
