Just In: Former PCB CEO takes over as ICC General Manager of Cricket

Wasim Khan's stint as General Manager of Cricket begins from next month

Wasim Khan has been appointed as the new General Manager of Cricket in an official update by ICC. He will succeed Geoff Allardice, who had served the post for the last eight years.

Khan has previously been associated with Leicestershire County Cricket Club and Chance to Shine. He is also a former Chief Executive of the Pakistan Cricket Board. His new journey as the General Manager of Cricket will begin from May 2022.

Allardice welcomed Khan and heaped praise about how his experience in administration will change things for the better in cricket.

“I am delighted to welcome Wasim to the ICC. He brings an in-depth knowledge of our sport and its stakeholders and his firsthand experience of the international cricket landscape will be of enormous benefit as we implement the ICC global growth strategy and move forward into a new events cycle.”

Wasim Khan too expressed gratitude to ICC. He stated that his goal will be to bring positive growth in the cricket ecosystem.

“I am honoured to be joining the ICC, I can’t wait to get started and work in partnership with our Members to strengthen and grow our sport. I’m particularly excited by the ICC’s commitment to the growth of the women’s game, and I look forward to playing my part in really accelerating that growth over the next decade.”
