The summer of 2022 is all set to be way more exciting than ever as the IPL finally returns home. The BCCI has formally announced the schedule of the 15th edition of IPL. Overall, 70 league matches will be played across 4 international standard venues in Maharashtra. IPL 16 will be a more magnificent affair as two new franchises join the 8 regular teams in their quest to the coveted IPL title. Let’s take a look at the fixtures of the Punjab Kings in IPL15.
Punjab Kings formerly known as the Kings XI Punjab is one of the 3 franchises that have participated in every edition of the league but are yet to win the coveted trophy. Every season has come with its share of highs and lows for them but their valiant efforts could never get the edge over the other sides. Their best performance came in 2014 when Aussie veteran George Bailey led the team to its maiden finals. In 2021, the franchise embarked upon their journey in the new avatar as Punjab Kings but the story remained the same as before. In 14 matches, the Kings crossed the finish line only on 6 occasions and ended at the 6th position on the points table.

Punjab Kings built a strong team featuring a number of experienced international players and young Indian cricketers in their squad for IPL15. Head Coach Kumble and the team management appointed Mayank Agarwal as the team captain. A prolific run-scorer at the top, Agarwal will surely relish the duties of a leader and aim to grow the appetite for wins a lot more in the dressing room. The franchise also roped in seasoned campaigner Shikhar Dhawan as their opener, a valuable addition in terms of the loads of experience he has of international cricket and the IPL. The likes of Jonny Bairstow, Odean Smith, and Liam Livingstone add on to the firepower in the batting lineup. The pace department will be spearheaded by Proteas speedster and IPL 2020 Purple Cap winner Kagiso Rabada.
