The IPL 2024 match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Lucknow on Monday saw some uncivil incidents, featuring an enraged dispute between RCB star batter Virat Kohli and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir.
The Gambhir-Kohli Banter!
Virat Kohli displayed his emotions throughout the duration of play. On the first ball of Josh Hazlewood’s fifth over, Badoni hit an uppish drive that sailed in the air to Kohli, who was coming in from the covers and jumped to his full height to grab an outstanding catch. Kohli blew a kiss in enjoyment after making the catch and encouraged the audience to shout enthusiastically for them. Kohli’s celebration is being interpreted as a response to Gautam Gambhir’s gesture of silencing the audience at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Kohli’s gesture implored the audience not to be silent and to continue screaming and yelling loudly.
However, after the match, the two shook hands and everything appeared to be normal. Then, LSG opener Kyle Mayers approached Kohli and began speaking to the RCB legend. Gambhir arrived and took Mayers away at this moment. A short time later, footage from the game showed Gambhir becoming angry and shouting something to Kohli. Virat appeared to be the calmer of the two. Other players, including KL Rahul, and support personnel, kept the two apart. Kohli had a long chat with LSG skipper, KL Rahul after the incident. Following this incident, Naveen-ul-Haq refused to shake Kohli’s hand.
