‘I am officially unretired’ Moeen Ali confirms return to red-ball cricket

Premier English all-rounder Moeen Ali put all speculations to rest after confirming that he is ready to represent England back again in the longest format of the game. The Englishmen currently face the Kiwi challenge at home and will tour Pakistan in the winter.

Brendon McCullum‘s appointment as the England Test coach has called for massive changes in the team setup. In addition, the former NZ skipper still backs his attacking mindset. He definitely aims to infuse that character into the squad and build a team that does not step back in the face of cumbersome situations. Thus with Stokes at the helm, England eyes the WTC title.

“If Baz McCullum wants me, I’ll definitely play in Pakistan”

Ali’s elegance as a batter in addition to his tricks in the trade as a spinner made him a 3-dimensional cricketer across all formats. The 34-year-old shocked the cricket fraternity when he called quits to his Test career back in September 2021. His tally of 2914 runs with 5 tons and 195 scalps including 5 fifers in only 64 games speaks a lot about his illustrious red-ball career.

“I spoke to McCullum this morning, and we did discuss Pakistan this winter. The door is always open, and yeah, I suppose I am officially unretired,”

Ali stated.

Reports suggested that McCullum spoke to Ali to express his desire of having the latter in his scheme of things for England’s Test future. Thereafter, Ali’s recent decision is quite the fruitful outcome of the Kiwi veteran’s talks.
