Breaking: S Sreesanth announces retirement from all forms of Indian domestic cricket

Kerala pacer S Sreesanth has announced his retirement from all forms of Indian domestic cricket. Sreesanth was a crucial member of the Indian team in the 2007 World T20 and 2011 Cricket World Cup. His iconic catch in the World T20 2007 final to dismiss Misbah-ul-Haq will always be the highlight of his career. However, the 2013 IPL fixing scandal changed the fast bowler’s life. After the incident, Sreesanth was banned from all forms of the game.

A life ban was imposed on Sreesanth after the 2013 IPL fixing scandal which was later lifted by the Supreme Court in 2019. In March 2019, the apex court lifted the life ban on Sreesanth and he was allowed to play cricket after his 7-year ban ends in August 2019. In 2021, Sreesanth made his comeback in professional cricket as he was selected in Kerala’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy squad. He recently represented Kerala in the Ranji Trophy as well.

In the seven-year period between 2013 and 2020, Sreesanth made several public appearances through reality shows. He participated in TV shows such as Bigg Boss and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in 2014 and 2018 respectively.

Sreesanth ends an eventful career with 169 international wickets from 90 matches. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021, the 39-year-old picked up a fifer against UP and had a decent season overall. However, he did not get too many chances in the Ranji Trophy as he played a single game and picked just two wickets from two innings. He was shortlisted for the IPL mega auction 2022 as well but he could not find any buyers at the mega event.
