The star medium-fast bowler, Deepak Chahar could be ruled out from IPL 2022 because of his hamstring injury. Chahar suffered through this hamstring pull during the recent 3rd match of the T20I series of India against West Indies on Sunday, 20th February. He was, as usual, performing flamboyantly and bowled a great spell for India in the 3rd T20 during his first 11 deliveries of the match. Chahar dismissed Kyle Mayers and also took the wicket of Shye Hopes but was unfortunately not able to complete his 2nd over with one delivery remaining as his hamstring was pulled and he was woefully forced to leave the cricket ground.
As a result of the injury, he already been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka starting from the 24th of February. According to sources, his hamstring strain ‘looks bad’. If the injury doesn’t get any better, he could be ruled out from the 15th season of IPL as well which does not look good for Chennai Super Kings.

Deepak Chahar has proved himself to be one of the most valuable and worthy players for the Chennai Super Kings. He has taken a total of 48 wickets in the last three seasons of IPL. His best being 4/13 in the last season itself. This is one of the biggest reasons why the franchise of Chennai Super Kings was not ready to let go of the brilliant bowler at any cost. Chahar was retained by CSK at a big whopping amount of Rs 14 Crore in the IPL Mega Auction 2022. With this, he also became the second most expensive purchase in the 2022 auction. He is now also the most expensive Indian pacer bought by any franchise in an IPL auction. Too many hopes and expectations are affixed to Chahar and it will be a big impediment for the franchise if he gets ruled out of IPL 2022.
