At the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Monday, the men’s doubles team of Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated England’s Sean Vendy and Ben Lane to win India its third consecutive badminton gold of the day. Satwik and Chirag warded off the English challenge posed by Sean Vendy and Ben Lane to win 21-15, 21-13.

The two players started the following game evenly matched. At 6-6, everything was even. From that moment on, the Indian team kept expanding their lead. After winning the second game by a score of 21–13, they won the match and the gold medal for their nation.
Winners at the badminton event other than Satwik and Chirag
With this, they had guaranteed the nation its third consecutive gold medal in badminton. At the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham on Monday, Malaysia’s Ng Tze Yong was defeated by Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen in the men’s singles category final.
Sen battled valiantly all the way to the finish line. He prevailed by scores of 19-21, 21-19, and 21-16. He accepted the Malaysian challenge head-on and worked hard to achieve the goal.
Both Sen and his Malaysian opponent played the first game very evenly. With a 5-4 margin, Sen acquired a tiny advantage. Tze Yong, on the other hand, didn’t give up and not only managed to collect points, but he also had Sen work very hard to earn his own. Sen persisted in the struggle, making the final score 19–19. However, Tze Yong won the first game after defeating the Indian 19–21.

PV Sindhu emerges victorious!
When she defeated Michelle Li of Canada earlier in the day, PV Sindhu also won a gold medal.
The top Indian shuttler PV Sindhu defeated Canada’s Michelle Li in the final on Monday to win India’s first gold medal in badminton at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 and the first women’s singles gold medal of her career.
Even though her opponent did a good job of competing, Sindhu was the match’s dominant player. The Indian won the match by scores of 21-15, 21-13 in just two games.
PV Sindhu had a strong start. She was ahead 11-8 with half the game remaining in the opening game. Despite providing her Indian opponent with fierce competition, Michelle Li lost every rally. In the opening match, Sindhu prevailed 21–15.
Li had a strong opening to the second game. However, Sindhu quickly exploited the situation once more. Every time the Canadian made a mistake, Sindhu’s lead grew by more and more. With an 11-6 edge, Sindhu was in a favourable situation halfway through the second game.
She needed ten more points to win India’s first badminton gold medal at the CWG 2022.
