Senegal Suspends Domestic Football amid Violent Protests
The trial of an opposition leader allegedly started fatal demonstrations in the West African country, according to the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), which has declared that domestic football has been halted until further notice. Following Ousmane Sonko‘s two-year prison sentence last week, there has been unrest in Senegal as a result of the decision. Police said that 16 people have died since Thursday, making these protests among the worst in recent memory. According to the presidency, two members of the security forces were among those slain.
