Third-seed Novak Djokovic’s next match at the 2024 French Open is on Wednesday (May 31) against 83rd-ranked Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics in Paris.
Djokovic will enter the round on the back of an easy win over Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-3, 6-2, 7-6(7-1) in the first round. Prior to the French Open, the Serb played in six tournaments, winning two of them- the Adelaide International and the Australian Open. However, since those two hard-court wins, the 36-year-old has not tasted victory in the other events. He missed the Indian Wells and the Miami Open due to his vaccination status.
On clay, the two-time French Open champion struggled this year, for he faced a third-round exit at the Monte-Carlo Masters, and quarterfinals exit in Banja Luka and Italian Open.
On the other hand, the Hungarian is still searching for his first title. Previously, he had participated in 12 tournaments this year since playing at the Adelaide International 2. He will be locking horns with Djokovic after a third-round exit in the Lyon Open against Sebastian Baez. Novak Djokovic vs Marton Fucsovics head-to-head
The two have locked horns four times with Djokovic winning all the matches. Their last encounter was at the 2021 Paris Masters. However, they haven’t met on clay yet and this will be their first one on the red dirt.
Novak Djokovic vs Marton Fucsovics prediction
Djokovic has strong serve, groundstrokes, as well as play great tennis from the baseline. Fucsovics also has the same qualities but the Serb will definitely have the upper hand over the Hungarian, courtesy of his consistency and experience. At the same time, Djokovic is 263-16 on clay and has won 18 titles as compared to Fucsovics’s 41-37 on the red dirt and he won just one title.
Prediction: Djokovic in straight sets.
