Watch: Eng Vs NZ 1st Test Paused For 23 Seconds After 23 Overs To Pay Tribute To Shane Warne In A Heart-Warming Gesture 

Shane Warne, the spin king, wore the Jersey with number 23 for the Australian Test Team. This explains the fact that he was paid tribute by the NZ and England players and their game was paused for 23 seconds.

The Test series between England and New Zealand has started. The commencement of the opening day of the 1st Test took place on the 2nd of June. The players in both the teams, along with the entire Lord’s pay tribute to Shane Warne; the legendary spin king of Australia. The game was consecutively played till 23 overs, after which, the match was paused for 23 seconds. However, it was done as a gesture of homage to Shane Warne

The players along with the umpires together stood in a single line near the pitch and acclaimed a video which was being played on the screen in the respect of the Australian legend. The main reason behind paying the tribute to Warne’s successful career for a calculated 23 seconds was because he wore the Jersey No. 23 for the Australian Test Cricket Team

Not to mention, even before the start of the 1st Test, Shane Warne was honoured by the Lord’s Cricket Ground. The commentary box of the renowned cricket ground will be now called as ‘Shane Warne Commentary Box’. Shane Warne was indeed a gem for Australia as well as the world. As a matter of fact, he took a total of 708 wickets in just 145 Test matches. Shane Warne died of a heart attack, whilst he was vacationing in Thailand.

The first day of the Test turned out to be pretty magnificent for the England Cricket Team as their bowlers managed to restrict the NZ players to a total score of 132. Not to mention, James Anderson and Matthew Potts emerged to be the leading wicket-takers in the first innings, as they scalped 4 crucial wickets each.
