“Senna Sempre” : McLaren to honor Ayrton Senna with a permanent logo placing

The Brazilian legend who passed away on the circuit of San Francisco 28 years ago still lives in our memories. He was an exceptional driver who showed true fervor when it came to racing. Ayrton Senna holds the record of most number of victories in Monte Carlo. He has won three World Championships. McLaren will feature the logo of Senna Foundation on it’s halo. The MCL36 and the future cars will uphold the Senna Sempre.

Zak Brown, the CEO of the McLaren said, “Starting from the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix, the McLaren MCL36 will carry the Senna logo marking our commitment to celebrate his legacy”. He added that he cannot think of another race than Monaco Grand Prix to commence this recognition of Ayrton Senna’s legacy.

“Having won the Grand Prix six times, more than any other driver, Ayrton proved that his skill and ability behind the wheel of an F1 car could rarely be matched. This addition to our F1 race cars will be permanent and has been added with the support of his family. It will serve as a constant reminder of Ayrton Senna’s sensational talent for us as a team, and for all our fans around the world.

“Ayrton Senna is, and always will be, a McLaren legend. His performances with McLaren, which earned him three Drivers’ World Championships, cemented his place as one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers.

“When he tragically passed in 1994, the entire motorsport world felt a sense of irreplaceable loss his memory lives on in the hearts and minds of Formula 1 fans across the world.

Williams and Senna, Senna Sempre in McLaren

Williams Racing, the team he was in during the fatal crash used to honor Senna. They had the logo of the nose of the car. However, Williams removed the same before the 2022 season. The new owners cited that they needed to change the way the team honored him. Senna drove in McLaren from 1988 to 1993, winning the word title thrice. He started for McLaren in 96 races and won 35 of them. His final victory came at the 1993 Australian Grand Prix.
