On Monday night, the Edmonton Oilers clinched a 4-1 victory over the New York Islanders at Rogers Place. Newly-appointed Head Coach Kris Knoblauch secured his first win with the Oilers.
Leon Draisaitl had a stellar four-point performance with a goal and three assists. Captain Connor McDavid scored a goal and assisted. Zach Hyman netted the game-winner on the power play in the third period.

The game started with Mathew Barzal putting the Islanders on the board in the first period. Draisaitl answered with his sixth goal of the season, tying the score 1-1 at the first intermission. The second period remained scoreless.
In the final frame, the Oilers’ power play kicked into gear. Hyman and McDavid capitalized on their opportunities, with McDavid breaking an eight-game goal drought. Stuart Skinner made 32 saves, securing his third win of the season.
Draisatl recorded his 24th multipoint game, thereby moving a position closer to Wayne Gretzky’s franchise record of 158.
Despite the victory, the Oilers remain in the 31st position with nine points off 14 games. Islanders on the other hand, have 13 points, are placed 7th in the Metro Division. Both the teams are currently a far cry from their last season performances.
Next up, the Oilers face the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday night before embarking on a four-game road trip along the East Coast.
