Young promise Devon Levi is preparing to become the top goaltender for the Buffalo Sabres in the upcoming season.
The 21-year-old Quebecois in the chat with Lance Lysowki said, “I’m just doing my best to get my game to be the best it can be and keep working on it, keep improving. I don’t think you could ever be your best. There’s always more, you can keep pushing that level.” He added “It’s like building up your character in a video game. Just keep leveling up.”

Devon Levi was drafted 212th overall by the Florida Panthers in 2019. Levi’s NHL rights, along with a 2022 first-round pick, were traded by the Panthers to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Sam Reinhart on July 24, 2021. He debuted for the Sabres in 2022-23 against the New York Rangers in a do-or-die game.
Levi cemented his name as a promising goaltender in the game with 31 saves and an overtime win. He made the start for six more games, two losses and four wins. He played an instrumental part in two shootout wins also. In seven games, Levi saved 201 shots and maintained a Save Percentage of 0.905. His performance has also played a significant role in Buffalo shying away from trading in a goaltender this off-season.
On September 21, Levi will commence his journey to secure a spot on the roster as Don Granato gathers his players for their inaugural practice of the season. This season carries high expectations for them to establish themselves as strong contenders and put an end to the franchise’s 12-year playoff absence.
