Nicola Pietrangeli feels Novak Djokovic is the “best” in the world but Rafael Nadal is a bit “worn out”

Italian great Nicola Pietrangeli claimed that Novak Djokovic is the best in the world at the moment. During a recent award presentation ceremony in Rome, Pietrangeli told the reporters that he feels the 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal is a bit worn out.

[The best in the world], even if everyone doesn’t like him, is Novak Djokovic. Nadal seems a bit worn out to me,” Pietrangeli said.

Djokovic is certainly at the height of his career, having won the Australian Open this year to reclaim the top spot in the rankings. Last year, he and arch-rival Nadal reached the semi-finals of the Wimbledon and the former went on to get crowned by beating Nick Kyrgios in the final. At the same time, Nadal withdrew after sustaining an injury. Also Read: “It’s Unbelievable,” Bjorn Borg On Rafael Nadal’s Training Routine

Nadal also exited this year’s Australian Open in the second round, while Djokovic proceeded to bag his 22nd Grand Slam trophy after defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final.

During the Australian Open, the Spaniard suffered a hip injury and is currently on the sidelines. He confirmed taking rest for a few weeks, but that would also mean he would miss a series of tournaments during his recovery process.

If the southpaw recuperates in time, then he can compete in the Indian Wells after already pulling himself out of the Dubai Tennis Championships and the Qatar Open.

The World No.6 is expected to pull himself out of the Miami Open as well to get ready for the all-important Rolland Garros. Djokovic has 22 major titles already and is on the cusp of surpassing Nadal to add another of the coveted trophy to his name. Also Read: Novak Djokovic Expected To Miss Out Indian Wells List
