Germany’s Alexander Zverev reached the quarterfinals of the 2024 French Open following a straight-sets victory over Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov. But he is frustrated over not being allowed to take insulin on court for his diabetes.

The German was diagnosed with type-1 diabetes at the age of three. And that he why to maintain his blood sugar levels, he needs to take insulin regularly.

Zverev said that in the previous match, he was told he should take the insulin during toilet break but he protested saying he then has to walk off the court four or five times. “On the ATP Tour I do it on the court, here they don’t allow me to do it,” he told Eurosport Germany. “I’m not allowed to do it on the court and I have to run out every time.

“But they said it looks weird when I do this on the court. But this is not a clever take because if I don’t do it, my life will be in danger. But they said it looks weird,” Zverev added. Also Read: French Open doubles stars disqualified for accidentally hitting ball kid and leaving her in tears
