The Wimbledon 2022 Champion Novak Djokovic suffered a blow after the US open announced that there will be a travel policy for unvaccinated players. Novak Djokovic hasn’t vaccinated himself against COVID-19.
The 21-time Grand Slam winner Djokovic also missed Australian Open due to his anti-vaccination stance. Djokovic might miss US Open too as they have announced a travel policy for unvaccinated players.
US Open recently released the list of Men’s and Women’s players list for single events. The list includes Novak Djokovic’s name too. The United States Tennis Association (USTA) said, “Per the ITF Grand Slam rulebook, all eligible players are automatically entered into the men’s and women’s singles main-draw fields based on ranking 42 days prior to the first Monday of the event.”
“The US Open does not have a vaccination mandate in place for players, but it will respect the U.S. government’s position regarding travel into the country for unvaccinated non-U.S. citizens.”
Due to his anti-vaccination stance, Djokovic might miss Australian Open too. As US and Australia have strict rules regarding COVID-19 vaccination.
After winning Wimbledon 2022 Novak Djokovic said, “I’m expecting some good news from the United States. I’m not going to go to America if I don’t have permission, so the Australian saga for me was not pleasant at all.”

Online Petition to let Novak Djokovic play
The online petition regarding allowing Novak Djokovic to play the US Open was signed on Change.org. Almost 12,000 people have signed this petition.
The petition says, “There is absolutely no reason at this stage of the pandemic to not allow Djokovic to play at the US Open 2022. US Government and USTA must work together to allow him to play. If unvaccinated American players can play, Djokovic as one of the legends of the game must be allowed to play. MAKE IT HAPPEN, USTA!”
Novak Djokovic has slipped to No. 7 in ATP Rankings. Djokovic currently has 21 Grandslams whereas Rafael Nadal has 22 Grandlsams. If Djokovic misses out on the US Open 2022 Nadal can add one more grand slam to his tally.
