Novak Djokovic always gets emotional if the fans start cheering for his opponent which provides him with extra motivation to beat the rival and prove the fans wrong, says Djokovic’s former coach Boris Becker.

The German coached the World No.1 between 2013 and 2016 and during that time, the Serb won six Grand Slam titles.

Novak is emotional. He always gets temperamental when the crowd is rooting for another player. And he uses his fingers to show the fans that they have woken him up now. And he says, ‘I’m going to beat this guy,” Becker said in his documentary ‘Boom! Boom! The World vs Boris Becker’ on Apple TV+. The streaming platform shared a clip on its social media platforms.

Lorenzo Musetti upsets Novak Djokovic in Monte-Carlo Masters

The two-time Monte-Carlo Masters champion Novak Djokovic lost his opening match, plus faced exit in the third round in 2021 on the French Cote d’Azur. And this year, the story is no different.

For three consecutive years, the Serb was knocked out early in the season’s first Masters 1000 on European soil. Playing his second match on clay, the 35-year-old lost 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 against Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti on Thursday. The Serb despite getting off to a strong start, dropped his serve eight times and was failing to counter Musetti’s solid baseline shots. The Italian then took on seventh-seeded Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinals and faced a defeat (6-1, 6-2). Now Sinner will face Holger Rune in the semi-final after the Danish defeated Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinal.
