Novak Djokovic breaks Steffi Graf’s record for most weeks spent at No.1; set to reach another milestone

Djokovic became the world number one for the first time in 2011, while Graff rose to the top spot in women's rankings in 1987.

The Serbian great Novak Djokovic is set to reach another milestone. On Monday, when the latest ATP rankings were released, Djokovic leveled with the legendary Steffi Graff for weeks spent at No.1 for 377 weeks. And now, he is just one week away from scripting the record for most weeks spent at number 1. He currently has 7,070 points, 590 more than Spain’s Carlos Alzaraz.

Djokovic became the world number one for the first time in 2011, while Graff rose to the top spot in women’s rankings in 1987. Both of them are 22-time Grand Slam champions. Also Read: Carlos Alcaraz Registers 1st Win At Argentina Open After Injury 

It was for the seventh time, the Serb leaped to the top. He was crowned the Australian Open champion for the tenth time when he lifted the coveted cup this year. In the final, Djokovic defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3, 7-6 (4), 7-4 (5).

Two names from the table recently claimed ATP titles. Daniil Medvedev won the Rotterdam title, while Carlos Alcaraz, who had a dream return to the court after injury, clinched the Aregentina title in his maiden appearance.
