Novak Djokovic is in Monte Carlo, Monaco, for the upcoming clay season this week. Ahead of the tournament, which is set to begin on April 8, a die-hard tennis fan, who visited the city, never thought she would meet Djokovic there.
She recalled her chance meeting with the World No.1 in Monaco by writing how she was left disheartened when he disappeared into a building after not hearing her loud calls. But when the Serb came out, she did not miss the opportunity to meet her favorite player.
“Just as I expected, Novak was as warm and inviting as ever. He held his hand out to shake mine and listened to me as I told him what I thought of him and his tennis,” she wrote on Instagram.
“Next up, French Open then Wimbledon, so that you can break this tie and become the undisputed GOAT! Also hopeful that the USA will chill tf out and fix these rules so that you can be back in NY in August,” she added. The post quickly went viral among tennis fans.

Novak Djokovic reclaims the No. 1 spot after Carlos Alcaraz’s defeat to Jannik Sinner in the 2024 Miami Open semi-final
Carlos Alacarz started this year’s Sunshine Double with a title run at Indian Wells by beating Daniil Medvedev in the final. This helped the Spaniard reclaim his No.1 spot in the ATP rankings. However, he needed to win the Miami Open as well to retain his spot.
But the teenager couldn’t overcome 21-year-old Jannik Sinner 6-7, 6-4, 6-2 in the semi-final in Miam that saw him losing the top spot to Novak Djokovic. Djokovic did not play in seasons first two ATP Masters 1000 due to US’s strict regulations to ban unvaccinated travelers to enter the country.

Daniil Medvedev emerged victorious by beating Jannik Sinner in the Miami Open final to clinch his fourth title this season, and his first in Miami, which saw his return to the top four. His win took Djokovic to his eighth stint at No 1. And today begins his record 381st week at the top rank.
Now the 22-year-old will kick off his clay season by participating in Monte-Carlo. Here he will have the chance to pick up some more points to stand atop undisputed. Last year at the Monte-Carlo, he lost his first match against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
