The 2024 World Juniors is underway and the excitement is palpable. The young stars of the premier Ice Hockey nations will compete in the World Junior Ice Hockey Championship 2024 to win glory.
Established in 1974 as an unofficial tournament, The World Junior Ice Hockey Championship has grown into a bigger and influential global tournament. The 2024 World Juniors hosted by one of Ice Hockey’s biggest names will be the 49th edition of the tournament.

2024 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship
Format
Ten Teams are divided into groups of two: Group A and Group B. The teams will play a round-robin. The Top Four teams in each group advance to the Knockouts. The bottom team in the two groups will be relegated.
The top eight teams will then be reseeded for the playoffs, following the following ranking:
- higher position in the group
- a higher number of points
- better goal difference
- higher number of goals scored for
- better seeding coming into the tournament (final placement at the 2024 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships).
The teams will then play a Knockout Round consisting of Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, Third Place Decider, and a Finale.

Knockouts: 2nd January (QFs), 4th January (SFs), 5th January (Finale and 3rd place)

Venues
The World Junior Ice Hockey Championship shall take place in Sweden. The city of Gothenburg will play host for the first time.
Scandinavium and Frölundaborg are the two venues where the WIJHC 2024 will take place. The SFs, 3rd place match, and The Finale will be played in Scandinavium.
Group A matches will be held in Frolundaburg as well as two QFs.Â
