Jaylen Brown won’t be playing against the New York Knicks on Monday night for the Boston Celtics, the current NBA Eastern Conference champions, due to personal matters.
Due to a facial fracture, Brown previously missed the Celtics’ previous five games. He did, however, on the court against the Philadelphia 76ers in the team’s first game after the All-Star break.
The two-time NBA All-Star will not travel with the club when they visit Madison Square Garden to play the Knicks, missing just his 11th game of the year.
Last Saturday against the 76ers, Jaylen Brown scored 26 points to lead the Cs in scoring. The victory kept the Boston Celtics (44-17) barely half a game ahead of the Milwaukee Bucks (43-17) for the top record in the Eastern Conference.
In terms of points (26.5), rebounds (7.0), field-goal percentage (48.6%), and minutes played (35.7), Brown is averaging career-high totals this year. Joe Mazzulla’s team will need a number of players to step up to make up for Brown’s contributions.
