Stephan Bonnar Cause of Death: How UFC Hall of Fame Dies at Just the Age of 45?

Stephan Bonnar, the UFC Hall of Famer, who played an instrumental role in growing UFC with his rivalry against Forrest Griffin, died at the age of 45 on Thursday (December 22, 2022). But what is Stephan Bonnar Cause of Death?

UFC president Dana White said: "Stephan Bonnar was one of the most important fighters to ever compete in the Octagon. His fight with Forrest Griffin changed the sport forever, and he will never be forgotten. The fans loved him and related to him and he always gave them his best. He will be missed."

Stephan Bonnar Cause of Death

Reports suggested that he died of heart complications while at work.

Stephan Bonnar Bio

Bonnar was born in Hammond, Indiana, and brought up in Munster, Indiana. He attended Munster High School. He began learning combat sports at an early age and by the age of 16, he earned his black belt in Tae Kwon do. Bonnar then received his purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under the legendary Carlson Gracie.

After starting his career, he mostly competed in Light Heavyweight in the UFC. His defeat against Forrest Griffin in Ultimate Fighter 1 is considered the most important fight in the history of the UFC. After losing a unanimous decision match to Forrest Griffin, UFC awarded him and Bonnar a six-figure contract. Following Forrest Griffin’s retirement, UFC inducted him and Bonnar into the UFC Hall of Fame on July 6, 2013.

Bonnar finished his career with a record of 15-9 (W-L). He lost his farewell match against Tito Ortiz by a split decision on November 15, 2014. Bonnar retired for a second time.

After his MMA career, he started featuring professional wrestling, especially in Impact Wrestling, and did color commentary for WEC. He was an MMA analyst for ESPN and Fox Sports. He was also appointed the president of North Star Combat.
