Dana White confirms that he wants Chimaev’s next fight to be for the UFC Middleweight Championship. Last night, he defeated Kamaru Usman by decision at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi. With this performance, he is on a 13-match unbeaten streak in MMA and a possible Khamzat Chimaev vs Sean Strickland match card.
But there is a problem, Chimaev might have broken his hand in his fight against Usman. Dana White said that it is not confirmed whether his hand is broken or not and will confirm after an X-ray scan. He also appreciated Khamzat by saying,
“The kid is unbelievably talented. Hopefully, everything is well with his hand, and we can do this title fight soon.”
Sean Strickland recently became the UFC middleweight champion by defeating Israel Adesanya by decision. It was during the UFC 293 event, and the event witnessed a full five-round fight.
Both fighters have a great record in their MMA careers. Strickland has fought over 33 fights in the ring, with more than 28 wins. On the other hand, Chimaev hasn’t faced defeat in all the 13 fights he has fought in the MMA ring.
Khamzat Chimaev vs Sean Strickland has the main event card and will be a hell of a contest. But for that, we will have to wait for a while and hope this title fight will happen soon.
