Israel Adesanya is one of the best middleweight fighters in UFC history. He is a two-time UFC middleweight champion and has had five successful title defenses. Currently, he is on a break after losing the title to Sean Strickland. Even though he is on a break, Adesanya ranks ahead of every middleweight fighter as well as Dricus du Plessis in the ranking.
For those who don’t know, Du Plessis will fight Sean Strickland for the UFC middleweight championship. Before that, he was asked about facing Adesanya or other UFC fighters.
Here is what Dricus du Plessis said:
“As soon as Strickland won that belt, Israel Adesanya became completely irrelevant to me!”
He also mentioned,
“My focus is on the UFC Middleweight Championship!”
Du Plessis is unbeaten in the UFC ring and has an eight-fight winning streak. His last fight was against Robert Whittaker at UFC 290 for the UFC middleweight title eliminator. As he won the eliminator, he became a title contender and will now face Strickland at UFC 297.
Can Du Plessis win the UFC Middleweight Championship and complete his dream? Only time will let us know. Till then, let us look at Du Plessis’s UFC career.
