Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic was set as the main event fight for the UFC Heavyweight Championship at UFC 295. But an injury to Jon Jones has ruled him out for at least 6 months, and the main got discarded. As a result, the UFC rescheduled the main event between Sergei Pavlovich and Tom Aspinall for the UFC heavyweight interim title fight. Well, the number 3 rank fighter in the heavyweight division, Miocic, was unhappy.
Stipe Miocic said,
“I don’t know why I didn’t get picked… I definitely want to fight the biggest fish, which is Jon Jones.”
He also concluded by saying, “It wasn’t my choice, it was theirs… I want that belt back. It’s going to happen.”
To be honest, it is unfair that he wasn’t picked up for the interim title fight. Moreover, it has been over 200 days since he became the heavyweight champion, and till he comes back in the ring, it will be over a period of one year.
Many fighters have given their best for the heavyweight championship, whereas Jon Jones, who will be a champion for more than a year without any title defenses, is truly unfair. Should Jon Jones be stripped of the UFC heavyweight title? Or will the UFC continue favoring the champion? Do let us know in the comment section. Till then, let us compare the Interim title bout fighters with Stipe Miocic.
