“Manchester United players are not disciplined and professional!” says Nemanja Matic

The Serbian defender, Nemanja Matic, was a part of the Manchester United club for five seasons. From 2017 to 2022, he donned the Manchester United jersey and did wonders at the Old Trafford stadium. Well, after the 2022 season, he was transferred to Roma and is currently a part of Rennes FC.

As of now, he has represented eight football clubs, which include names like Benfica and Chelsea. Recently, in an interview, he revealed something that will blow your mind, and this may be one of the reasons for Manchester United’s trophy drought for several seasons.

Nemanja Matic said,

“Manchester United players are not disciplined and professional!”

Here is the full statement along with his explanation.

“At Chelsea, all the players acted professionally. They were punctual and were never late for training, but at Manchester United, it happened almost every day. Paul Pogba, Jadon Sancho, and a couple of other players would always be late.”

“The rest of us who were always on time were angry. So, we decided to form a kind of an internal disciplinary committee with me serving as its president. I put a sheet of paper up on the wall, where I documented the names of individuals arriving late. During one particular season, we collected around £75,000 in fines.”

This might be one of the reasons why the club has only won one trophy in the past five seasons. Well, this is the past, and the current environment of the team might be different. Currently, Erik Ten Hag is the manager, and the club environment might be different. He is giving his very best for the club and wants to add more trophies to their cabinet.
